Roger and Mrs Jones met in an interesting situation, it is when he tried to steal her purse, at his surprise she grabbed him and he couldn’t steal it. Mrs Jones is described as ‘a large woman carrying a large purse’ walking alone at 11 o’clock at night, and that make us think of her character as cold and unfriendly, Roger is described as a thief of course and as he tried to take the purse he fell because it was heavy, that means he was a skinny boy and not very though, Mrs Jones kicked him and shook him, while holding him by his shirt, she asked him to get her wallet from the ground and she sounds like someone with a strong personality, she said to him ‘’ now a’int you ashamed of yourself’’ (p.93) and he replied ‘’ yes’m’’ ’’ (p.93), and then she kept interrogating him to know what were his intentions of stealing, he denied, she kept insisting, while going on with the dialogue, her actions make us readers learn more about roger’s character, ‘’ he looked fourteen or fifteen, frail and willow-wild’’ (p.94), we learn that he is weak poor and has no one to …show more content…
The narrator has sanity problems because of the way he sees things he says ‘’will you say that I am mad? The disease had sharpened my senses’’ (p.119) the setting is his mind and while telling his point of view on things he keeps moving the plot, he describes himself as nervous very nervous and is not sure if he is really mad, as readers we come to the conclusion that he is really mad because he ended the old man’s life just because he felt strange about his
