First Packo Essay Agreements that protects the ownership right of each individual in a family business should be accurately outlined and documented, so that the likelihood of lawsuit between family members can be minimized.
1. Describe the allegations by Robin Horvath against the Packos and Dooley in his civil lawsuit filed in June 2010. In June 2010, Robin Horvath sued both Packos and Dooley, because he believed that he has the right to buy fifty percent of Packo’s share in the company, but his requested was denied. For example, they mismanaged a company that had existed for years just for personal interest. When they opt to sell the company, they are not morally thinking about the generations to come. If they made profit from the company of their parents, it was not ethical to think of selling it as they did not seem to consider the generations to come. Their only motivation was their own personal interest.
6. Does it appear that Horvath did anything that was unethical? If so, please describe. On the other hand, there’s something that Robin Horvath could done better and more ethical too. It’s not necessary to sue people from his family. They could have handed it at a family level. Probably there could have been corrections to see the company move and grow to larger productivity.
7. What were the criminal charges against Packo III and Dooley? 8. Based solely on your review of news articles written and published before the jury's verdict was announced in the criminal case, did you think Packo III and Dooley were going to be found guilty or not guilty? As I expected, the jury did not see the two guilty as much as Horvath had seemed to be at the top in dictating the direction the case was to take.
9. List two questions you want to ask Tony Packo III. Given the chance to meet Tony Packos III, I would want to ask him some two critical questions. First I would wish to ask him what he expected the outcome from the jury would be like. Basically, when someone is sued lawfully, we expect a lot of fear of the outcome from the court. I would want to know if his expectations were in line with what the jury finally decided on.
Additionally, I would wish to ask him how he felt after the outcome. Normally there is fear of the unknown when it comes to lawsuits. There is a very special feeling one will have when the jury rules in favor of the accused. I would wish to know exactly how it so affected both his financial position and this social status. I believe that everything that happens in somebody's life must have an effect on the well-being of an individual.
