First Line Supervisor Paper

Departmental leaders as well as first line supervisors in law enforcement organizations must continue to make a conscious effort with the many outside influencers that can and will effect retiring police officers motivation in addition to productivity of those officers. The culture within and outside the department will have an over whelming effect that will produce officer burnout, followed by a decline in his/her motivation to be an over achiever in performance. The two officers at one time starting out in the profession with a strong aspiration in transforming society besides possess a great attributes to serve and protect. Over time these two officers for whatever reason swayed toward mediocrity by the contagiousness of a negative influencer. The fact that I’m the first line supervisors of these retiring police officers it is a requirement of my leadership duties to grasp the weakening in their motivation. One solution to correct the situation would be pursuing an interdepartmental transfers or modifications with their duty assignments. …show more content…
In these case we are restricted to a smaller organization, having said that, as their first line supervisor it’s imperative we work possibility to determine other methods to improve both officer’s performance to include
