This woman has her life on the line and she is able to stay calm while convincing the two friars that she is willing to do what the friars ask of her. “I’m not as ungracious as you might think, and if you’ll just grant me two little things, you’ll see I’m just as keen to do what you want as you are” (Navarre 173). This statement alone is powerful and shows the capability of this woman to react without feelings, for if she did it let her emotions dominate her, she would lose what control she appears to have. With her perception in check she out smarts the two friars with a divide and conquer approach.
As one can see this story is filled with an extreme case of preposterous and amazing events. What is even more absurd is that events like these happen every day in our society, but it also provides an amazing example of the knack of one woman’s quickness of thought and her ability to govern intense emotions under extreme pressure. If a person can understand a situation and can keep control of the emotions, they may feel in an uncomfortable setting one can come out on top and maybe even gain knowledge about it and that is truly
