Ring! Ring! The buzzing sound from the alarm went off to wake me up to go to school. OHOOOO wait I have school today, that’s why the alarm went off. I did not wake up right away. Instead I hid under my big warm blue blanket until Dad came, and knocked on the door to make sure I am awake for school. When I finally got out of my bed I went to the bathroom started brushing my teeth and washing my face. As I was walking out of my bathroom door to the hall way, my dad started slowing dancing along with Dad “First day of school! First day of school. Everybody act cool on the first day of school. I made you some breakfast you gonna have a great first day of school.” Me “hahahaha Thanks dad I’m sure I’ll have a good first day of school.”

After us playing for a while the teacher came to the playground and lined us up to go eat lunch. We started walking from the playground to the cafeteria. It was my first time at the cafeteria. We lined up outside of the cafeteria where there’s a sink for us to wash our hands. After that we walked down this white hallway there’s a cooler there filled with milk and apple juice. I had no idea how it works or how many I can take. Me “How many of these can I take?” Classmates “One of each.”
I took one of each and went on to the food station which is down at the end of the hallway. I went up there was pizza, chicken sandwich and this Italian meet ball sub. I picked pizza then I went to sat down with the friend I made during recess and had a fun time with them. After lunch we had recess again, some people went to take a nap at their desk some went to the playground to play tag and wall-ball. Our last class of the day is PE. My first week of high school was pretty good. I like all of my teachers, and my classes are in a good order. It was difficult waking up early on the first day because prior to then, the earliest I had woken up during the summer was 8:00. I got lost going to FACS on the first day, and then again on the second day. I found my regular classes easily enough, and I haven’t gotten any tardies.…

During that time I knew nothing about being in a big school because the biggest school i've been in was yankee ridge. (Which is really small).…

As I looked around at my new classmates on my first day of public school, I was in complete shock. All around me I saw students who did not care in the slightest about their education and who saw school as simply a chore instead of an adventure. They slumped down in their chairs, cheated off of each other left and right, rolled their eyes at teachers, and spent each day watching the clock, waiting for the bell to ring that would released from their “prison.” That August morning, I felt like I was in a completely different world: one where I did not belong.…

It was a sweltering day in the summer of 2009. The dawn of the day started like any other day, with the rising sun and the bright blue sky; however, it ended like no other day. I woke up to the sounds of chatter that came from downstairs. It was noisier than usual because we had family from California and Canada over at our house. This happened due to the fact that our two-story house had unoccupied rooms, but there was an influx of people, so my brother and I had to surrender the room that we shared and sleep in our parents’ room.…

The first day began and I immediately met Randy and Byanca, little did I know at the time that they would be my friends for all of my school career. Time went by and so did the grade levels, I would always struggle with one subject and thrive in another. During my elementary and middle school years I would struggle in language arts and history, but I would thrive in mathematics mainly because I love numbers.…

My first day of middle school was hell, I have always been good at school. My grades have never been bad and neither have my actions and or attendance. Probably from having a mom that is also a teacher. I look at that as a good thing though, watching kids just goof off and not come to school then high school rolled around and it was like I got to look down on them because they did not prepare for bigger and better things. School wasn't bad for me because it was hard, it was bad because i was always shy in school.…

Short shorts. Short shorts as far as the eye can see. This is what I saw all over ETSU’s beautiful campus as I went one day without my cell phone. Initially, I thought nothing much would come out of the seemingly uninteresting assignment, but I was mistaken. It proved to be an eye-opening day, mostly because I saw how much students were on their phones, I learned that I am terrible at telling time, and I can now cope with my social anxiety instead of jumping to my phone.…
