First Date Ideas: Video Analysis

Decent Essays
My article is entitled, "Top 10: First Date Ideas." This article lists the top places to go for dates. Each place it suggests comes with a video and the video includes tips. The notes under the video also hints tips as well. For an example, number 10 on the list is Drinks At A Bar. The video said why drinks at a bar is a good call, and it gave a tip. The tip said that it releases the tension and pressure of having a face to face conversation, when you could sit shoulder to shoulder and enjoy being close to one another. In the description below it, it recommends it before going all out. In the article it specifically pointed out #2 and #3, those are which is dancing and cooking class. The top first date idea was skydiving. In the article it …show more content…
But most of these places and ideas, I would have to disagree. I don't think that coffee would be a great place to go. Coffee makes your breath have a little kick to it. Trust me, been there, smelled that and I don't want to go back. Even if you do stick a gum in your mouth I think it's very disrespectful to chew gum on your first date. While you're smacking and popping that gum, she might be telling you some deep things about her past which is a key to improving futuristic dating skills. It even states in the description "...it's important to select a venue with a date-appropriate vibe...," which with this idea coffee would be a big NO. The article was not bad, but I just think some of the ideas just need to be reconsidered and actually thought about. In the prologue it says that "A first date should allow partners to chat and get to know one another..." but not with a bad breath.. It suggests bowling in the article. I suggest that people should stay away from sports until later on in the relationship. You don't want to get so happy and brag that you won and they lost, because when you're in a serious game mode you often forget what you're doing and your goal is to win. Like I indicated before the article is great it's just that the ideas need to be

So why harp on the woman for wanting to get together with friends for dinner when all the man wants to do is watch the big game. Barry mentions this situation happening to him and his wife when there was a World Series game going on (Barry 221), they were invited to a social gathering and the husband’s of the couples wanted to watch the game instead of talk, so they left the room to let the women talk amongst themselves because they were hindering them from enjoying the game. This technique is quite resourceful, women tend to not care about sports, they would rather talk gossip instead. Not only that, but if someone asks a girl what a certain football term is, like a ‘first down,’ they more than likely not understand it. However, there are many women who are very educated in sports, including myself.…

How have cultural and economic factors influenced the dating world? In Beth Bailey’s book From Front Porch to Back Seat, Bailey discusses the “private” world of dating, and its public influences. Additionally, she discusses how dating trends have shifted throughout the twentieth and twenty-first centuries as a result of these factors. These factors have reached beyond the dating shifts that Bailey discusses, and have influenced current dating trends as well. 1. The mate selection techniques depicted in the 2 videos are very different. In “The kidnapped Bride” the men actually physically kidnapped the women and most of the time keep the women until they get to the point where they no longer resist the kidnapping and accept the fact that they need to marry the man. In a few instances, such as the one depicted in the video, they let the girl go after a large amount of resistance but they curse the girl saying things like “her child will be an alcoholic” or “her mother-in-law will be cruel”. The women have virtually no say in who they will end up with.…

Man with a Movie Camera, a film from 1929 directed by Dziga Vertov, is a film unlike any contemporary movie we would see today that may hold more significance than most modern blockbusters from Hollywood. This film takes place over the course of one day, and presents how extraordinary everyday life can be. Vertov uses no actors and tells no story in this film. Instead, he focuses on the technology of the camera he is using to film, and shows his audience what the kino-eye sees and what really goes into making a move. This kino-eye (literally cinema-eye) and film itself is the focus of Man with a Movie Camera.…

Film has a particular way of drawing those in to the way it should be viewed; the use of colour and how it is controlled is one such way. Tom Ford’s film A Single Man highlights the use of a controlled colour palette to create the atmosphere of the film. It relies on aspects of mise-en-scène such as positioning of objects on screen, colour aspects such as comparison of colours used between certain characters and comparison of colour between scenes and the reasons for such. A Single Man uses these aspects to create a connection between the mental states and personalities of the characters presented within the film.…
