For my first concert I saw a recital performed by Hilary Hahn a violinist. She was accompanied by Robert Levin, a pianist. The two musicians played five compositions by famous composers such as; Bach, Antón Garcia Abril, Mozart, Hans Peter Türk, and Schubert. For this being my first concert review, I was astounded by the recital’s perfection and beauty. I knew going into this concert that it would be amazing, but it was much more than I could of hoped for. I will be reviewing my favorite pieces; Mozart’s Violin Sonant No. 33 in E-flat major, J.S. Bach’s Violin Sonata No. 6 in G major, and Schubert’s Rondo in B minor for Violin and Piano. The first piece I will be reviewing is Mozart’s Violin Sonant No. 33 in E-flat major. This composition is about thirty minutes long, and is the perfect length. It starts off with a very mature and dynamic Mozart feel.

This composition was my favorite of the three. The violin and piano were beautifully introduced in back and forth insertion in the beginning of the piece. The piano then continued to play clusters of chords while the violin asserted itself in a beautiful legato dynamic. Throughout the piece it felt like the violin was the trying to understand the piano. The piece is a multi-tempo movement that is marked with a beautiful melody that develops throughout the piece. Schubert makes the single composition feel like a multi movement concert in the span of a couple of minutes. This concert review was a wonderful way to appreciate the music. I would say their something to just listening to music without having any knowledge of it, but this is better in my opinion. I cannot wait to go to my second and third concerts and experience them in this way. Hilary and Robert were a beautiful pair to play these pieces, if only I could have reviewed the other compositions they played. This was the best recital I have seen by
