First Communion: The Value Of A Catholic Church

Improved Essays
I am part of an amazing community of faith, knowledge, and service. I started off in a small, half-day classroom, where I met many of my great friends. In kindergarten, I remember reading and talking about how Jesus died on the cross for us and learning numerous prayers that we use today. Over the next couple years, my faith grew. In Mrs. Smith’s second grade class, she taught and prepared me for First Communion. I then was beginning to realize what I believed in, and what qualities I have as a Catholic student here, at Mary Queen of Peace. In 7th Grade, Mrs. Kelly started the Confirmation process with us, and we got to pick our saint names. We learned all about our saints and got to know them very well. About 2 ½ months ago, I got confirmed. It felt really good to finally get to the point that we all have been preparing for for such along time. Faith is a huge part of my life, and Mary Queen has enhanced it over the years. …show more content…
Academically, I have learned anything from Mrs. Harris’ amazing chemistry labs to Mrs. Venneman teaching us how to write, address, and send letters to companies. We are so lucky to have outstanding teachers who strive to make us better students everyday. I’ve learned countless life lessons right here in this school. I’ve been taught how to be a better friend, how to act in public and the sports field, and of course many many virtues. MQP soccer was probably the best memory from all my years here. I got to be with some of my best friends, play soccer, and be myself. Although we unfortunately did not get the chance to win City County, we had an amazingly fun team and it made the experience so much

Introduction As a mainly Protestant Campus it may be hard to grasp the Catholic Church’s position on Mary. As a Catholic I was taught that Mary’s Immaculate Conception is the Holiest miracle to occur; hence why we have crowded her as the Queen, and the Mother of God. About To begin to understand why Catholics hold Mary close to their hearts one must begin with the Immaculate Conception. Catholics give Mary the same worship and praise one would give the God almighty because we believe that she was exempt from all sin; that is why God chose to plant his seed in her.…

“What we have to do... is to find a way to celebrate our diversity and debate our differences without fracturing our communities,” noted by Hilary Clinton. Recently, I took the time to observe all of the different diversity happening at Marist College. After observing students and how they interacted, one particular group of individuals struck my eyes. In my opinion, the most diverse group of individuals on campus are international students. Not only do they create diversity on campus, but they also make Marist College an incredible and globally recognized school.…

I was able to be lucky enough to work along side one of my friends and with the people of her parish to make the pasta dinner possible. This pasta dinner was the biggest fundraiser of the year and demanded us to be dedicated enough to the service. Throughout the night I went around serving and cleaning up meals. We ended up running out of pasta and supported one another throughout the night to keep going, even as people grew impatient.…
