First Baptist Church Reaction Paper

On May 9, 2017 at approximately 1853 hrs, Deputy J. Airola # 655 was dispatched to the First Baptist church (403 N. Texas Avenue), in Nixon, Texas, Gonzales County. For report of a burglary in progress. Myself and Chief Toliver arrived on location and made contact with 3 members of the Baptist church, while Airola searched the area for 3 young males seen running from the church minutes ago. We made contact with Otilia Rios (TX-DL # 04905008), Mary Alice Deleon (TX-DL # 13076739), Adolph Trigo (TX-DL # 35818802).

The 3 church members advised they entered the church to store food for the following day and heard noises coming from the kitchen area. Immediately they observed a tall, white, male wearing a baseball cap run out the front door. Otilia Rios chased the white male down the street before returning to the church. While conducting an investigation, Otilia Rios was able to get a good look at the white male. Through a 3rd party person, she identified the male she chased via a Facebook photograph as Tyler Schnitz.

Hatcher was given a tip and had located 2 of the 3 males at the Nixon high school playing basketball outside. Officer Hatcher detained the 2 males and contacted juvenile probation. Chief Toliver transported the 2 males to the GCSO for juvenile processing. Once inside Chief Toliver obtained a statement from Dominic Mendez, and Michael Venegas. Mendez stated, he had used a rock to break the window to enter the church. Michael and Tyler followed him inside, they went upstairs to play pool on the pool tables. Tyler played pool for a bit then went downstairs, they followed him shortly after. Venegas stated, Tyler started kicking in doors looking for money and started taking things. A lady walked into the church and we took off, Tyler threw everything, I went back and picked up everything and put it by Finch funeral
