I agree with you on the fact that citizens have the right to exercise their first amendment right even if someone is hateful. On the other hand, many citizens do not have the knowledge on what is right or wrong under the first amendment or the ground rules which governs it because it is too vague. For instance, Standing up for oneself during a protest is very challenging.
