FEEDBACK ON THE FIRST 68 PAGES
SALAD DAYS is a love story that follows the love life of Suzy a 43 year old woman, who lies to a 23 year old advertising executive, Valentino, telling him she’s 30. The first real interest in the script actually begins when Josephine calls Valentino. Josephine is one of the highlights. Her dialogue is very distinctive to her personality.
The overall dialogue becomes stronger at this point and the conversation between mother and son captures our interest. Valentino lies to his mother setting the stage for a comedy. His decision to fake a date is fun. The idea that he ends up on the same dating site as Suzy is another good hook. The idea that he lies about his age is smart. He wants an “older” mature woman.
The script, at this point, becomes much more interesting. The idea about Suzy agreeing to be his “fake girlfriend” works well when he offers her money.
There’s nice conflict and attraction between Suzy and Valentino (later this fades)
When Valentino yells that he’s not gay, it’s also fun.

In this draft, it’s been cut and they are not as engaging. Diane is actually confusing regarding why she thinks Suzy would be better off with
