In life we face many obstacles such as failures, setbacks, and challenges. Some people let their setbacks defeat them, but for me I’m a survivor. I never let anything hold me back, I always get back up and start all over again and that’s what survivors do. There was a time when I was in the 3rd grade when I realized how much I loved music; I started off writing poetry then that led into me starting to write rap songs. Failure is not characterized by what is lost, but instead by the lessons one learns from the experience. An area of my life in which I’ve faced many struggles has been music. Ever since a young age, I have been truly passionate about music; from singing, to dancing, to playing piano and percussion. Nothing makes me happier than succeeding in something I care about, but often it is extremely difficult to achieve musical honors due to the exceptionally talented competition. Two years in a row, I failed to make the Iowa All-State Chorus.…

Apart from being a naturally talented singer, listening to music is something that always puts a smile on my face. Since I was young, I had always had an undying interest in music. Though certain genres of music don’t necessarily appeal to me, i.e. rap, the general existence of music makes me happy. Writing music isn’t my strong suit, nor is playing musical instruments; I am self-taught in piano. I had been in school choirs from sixth to twelfth grade.…

Overcoming my Struggles As a little boy, going to bed was the best part of the night. It is when your eyes are hanging low and you are doing everything you can to stay awake to hear a story that your mother reads to you before she tucks you in bed. Hearing and understanding words as a little boy was not that hard for me. I could comprehend words and say them, but as I started to go to school my parents knew something was not right. In my opinion, my struggles with Attention Deficit Disorder (ADD) continue to be a challenge with the struggles I had before I found out about my diagnoses, finding out about my Attention Deficit Disorder (ADD) changing the way I did things, and continuing to overcome my challenges I have with Attention Deficit…
