Fireproof Leadership

For the Film Report assignment, I chose to watch a movie “Fireproof”, which genre are drama, romance, and Christian. The movie is about the crisis of the marriage of Caleb and Catherine Holt. They decided to divorce, however, Caleb’s father, John, proposes that his son delays their separation process for forty days and to follow the process called “The Love Dare” to make them love each other again. The main actor and a leader in this movie is Caleb who is also a heroic fire captain who values dedication and service to others above all else. I chose to analyze this particular movie because a leader, Caleb, is not only dedicated to his job, but also for the most important partnership in his life, marriage. To begin with, the leader’s code in the movie was “Never leave your partner behind”, which from the start shows that Caleb is a team leader, having the authority by being the fire captain. His leadership role as a fire …show more content…
As a great leader of the fire department, Caleb has the authority to command, which is why I recognize him to have the legitimate power. Caleb also has a referent power because of the influence based on his charisma, identification, and trust. Applying the Situational Leadership Model Theory, by Hersey and Blanchard, I would say that Caleb belongs in S2 because he provides the direction, but also allows his employees to offer opportunities for clarification in this two-way communication. However, I would also see Caleb as S3 because he shares his ideas at work with his employees and collaborates with decision-making. Caleb’s father is definitely S1 because he gave specific instructions to Caleb on how to save his marriage by providing him a book and supervised him during the process of forty days. From the Five Conflict-Handling Modes, by Thomas Kilmann, Caleb is recognized as a collaborating owl, because he is a wise person that finds the right solution and the right

The movie I decided to analyze for this assignment is Blood In Blood Out. This movie is about two Latino brothers, Cruz and Paco, and their cousin, Miclo, who is half white and half Latino, and how their lives are affected by the pact they have to always stick together and fight for each other. Later on in the movie the guys are separated after many conflicts they encountered between each other and with others. Cruz turns to drugs, Paco becomes a detective, and Miclo goes to prison. There are many different forms of communication and relationships between the characters, and there is also a great amount of conflict, which is why I chose this movie.…

Candidate Sugg was looking at the obstacle with his back towards his fire team during his brief. SNC displayed little confidence while performing the brief; he was soft spoken and stumbled through the order. The content of the brief was hard to follow; he said the mission statement two different times during the brief with different information both times. SNC failed to brief a scheme of maneuver and the tasking statement had very little details. SNC showed that he had a general awareness of a tactical situation by posting security at the beginning of the brief, but as the evolution continued he had his teammates pass off their weapons.…

Effective leaders come from all sizes, colors and religions. There are countless qualities that build an impressive leader. The two that are crucial, in my opnion, are effective communication and respect. Displaying these and other qualities is important and doing so has impacted my life as well as the lives of the people around me. Effective communication is a key component of leadership because many problems arise from substandard communication skills and when appropriate commendation is handed out it is more likely that the entire group will thrive.…

Have you ever been in a position where you can tell someone to do something, anything, and they will do it? Have you ever been in a position like this long enough to be tempted to use that power for something more than your job entails? William Golding frames the theme of his book, Lord of the Flies, after these questions, or rather the point of these questions. Power. Power gives way to advancement and togetherness, but it is also used and abused for one man or a group of people to get what they want, whatever they want, with little concern for others.…

I see the big question “what is effective leadership?” emerging so far in the Lord of the Flies book. As Jack and Ralph compete for leader, some of the children must have considered how leadership under each party would have been. We know that Jack is a leader because he was leading the choir boys around the island and able to control them into following his orders even when they don’t want to. Even after knowing that Jack had leadership experience and not knowing whether or not Ralph would be a good leader, he was elected over Jack.…

“Key Qualities of Leadership” Individuals involved within leadership roles can “make or break” a company. Without key qualities of leadership, an individual cannot fully provide their customers or its employees with the experiences they deserve. Without proper skills and reinforcement, leaders cannot foster a positive workforce or support their employees. Without certain key factors a leader or manager becomes just another employee, and not the leader they are required to be. Having leaders with the skills such as honesty, accountability, the ability to inspire and to delegate, and basic communication skills are all necessary parts to becoming proven and respectable leaders within a business.…

When working in early childhood there is an increasing motivation to achieve higher levels of development in their professionalism. This involves the way they plan, write, incorporation of new strategies or the implementation of efficient organisation. While using the National Quality Framework (NQF) as a support network to educators teaching practices, philosophy and vision, leaders must also consider that investigation and discourses can shape the way they teach. For instance, educators methods of teaching may be driven more on regulatory requirements rather than the quality of multiple exercises that can better cater for the children's learning (Waniganayake et al., 2012, p. 53) In order to achieve the centres goals and objectives, effective…

In every good film, there is an introduction, a rising action, a climax, a falling action, and a conclusion. These are basic staples when it comes to writing and creating a film. But when it comes to the characters in a film, there are some other staples as well. One of these such staples is that there needs to be a solid leader in the film, one who can keep the story moving or put the main character back on track. In Lee Daniel’s “The Butler”, however, we see multiple leaders over the course of the movie, all showing different tactics of leadership that are stated in Barry Posner and James Kouzes’ book “The Leadership Challenge”.…

The San Andreas shows one fascinating aspect of American disaster film that presents two apocalyptic, an earthquake and a tsunami by addressing the most-commonly portrayed environmental disaster. Along with showing the powerful natural disaster, this film concentrates on informing catastrophe and post-apocalyptic disaster. To begin with, the San Andreas is set in the city of Los Angeles, with San Francisco Bay Area and follows the story of San Andreas fault.
