Fine Art Museum Report

When visiting the Museum of Fine Arts in Boston on February 20th. I was amazed as soon as I walked in. I had never been to a museum before and always thought I would be uninterested in what was displayed. It was very fun for me to see the differences in art throughout the ancient world. I also visited other collections throughout the museum but nothing was as interesting as the ancient world. It was surprising to me that the museum would be separated into different collections, I thought everything would be all around the museum. I never expected to like the art but I had never seen anything like what I saw and it really was interesting to learn about.
I really enjoyed the Egyptian art. Some of the Egyptian paintings were mind blowing because

The sculpture is standing with most of his weight leaning onto his left leg and his right leg is bent slightly as well, as if he is about to take a step. He is looking down towards his hand, which, is holding the scraper. A scraper is something Roman athletes used to scrape dirt and sweat from their bodies. The lower right arm is broken off and it is also missing the upper portion of the scraper. It was found in nine pieces and put back together but no restorations were made. The sculpture looks smooth but is covered in brown spots that look like mud showing that it has some wear to it and is old. His muscles in his front as well as his arms and thighs are very pronounced making it seem like he was a strong athlete. The man is looking downward and looks like it is leaning slightly making it seem like a very realistic pose. His eyes almost seem closed making it seem like he is tired after a long day of exercising and maybe was sweating and taking a …show more content…
I enjoyed seeing everything that I did but I would love to experience it when I am older so that I can see if my views and understanding change. During class I learned how to look at different art pieces in different ways and it helped me to use the information I had learned to focus on the artists and the artwork and understand it. Humanities class taught me to look further into the artwork and try to understand it and experience a feeling from it instead of just glancing and moving on. Before this class I would just look at the painting as it was and not try to interpret it. Before I never looked at it in a way that the artist was trying to show you themselves and how they felt. I never really had an appreciation for art before taking Humanities or visiting the

Another thing that surprised me was the amount of information that was supplied in the museum. The museum was a two level building and honestly I was expecting one room. The things that fascinated me the most were the pictures and the secrets behind some of the most prominent features of Chicago. Did you know that the time on the green clock of the…

I got to experience places that I have been waiting my whole life to see. Upon reflecting on the study-at-large as a whole, I think the most educational experiences I had were at the Museum of Modern Art, the United Nations, and the 9/11 Memorial & Museum. I think that if I would have gone to the Art Institute before taking Art Appreciation, I would probably have had a completely different perspective on the art. I don 't think I would have paid that much attention to the style, texture, format, or size. Even though it’s only half way through the semester, I already feel that I have learned a lot about interpreting art…

Most often than not we find ourselves reminiscing the nostalgic moments of the past that have had a major impact on us that still play a key role in our lives today. Upon visiting the Frost Art Museum located at the Florida International University, I was convivially welcomed into the museum with a heartfelt “hello, thank you for coming”. However, it was not the warm welcome that made me feel nostalgic but more so when I entered the elevator to reach the second floor. As soon as the elevator reached the second floor and opened its suspense-filled doors I was introduced not only to my childhood but was sent flying into a dimension that teleported me into the past. Their new exhibit The Art of Video Games had astounded and left me dumbfounded for this was where my love for not only video games began but for cinematography, storytelling, and most importantly music.…

As the New York City Official guide, states on their website this is a “science museum with dinosaur fossils, exhibitions chronicling virtually all known animal and human history and, yes, some eye-popping IMAX movie action” with 5 million of visitors each year. I have always had a passion for history and storytelling since I was a child and decided in seventh grade world history class that I wanted to be an archaeologist, discovering ancient cultures and uncovering their secrets. I maintained this plan, arriving at Boston University as an archaeology major but after several semesters of study realized that it wasn’t the exact path for me. I began to grow my appreciation of museums, admiring how they could ignite wonder, curiosity, and learning in myself and others. I realized this was where I felt most at home. Therefore, I decided to change my major to art history, while retaining an archaeology minor, and explore history through the lens of artist’s interpretations and ideas.…
