The sculpture is standing with most of his weight leaning onto his left leg and his right leg is bent slightly as well, as if he is about to take a step. He is looking down towards his hand, which, is holding the scraper. A scraper is something Roman athletes used to scrape dirt and sweat from their bodies. The lower right arm is broken off and it is also missing the upper portion of the scraper. It was found in nine pieces and put back together but no restorations were made. The sculpture looks smooth but is covered in brown spots that look like mud showing that it has some wear to it and is old. His muscles in his front as well as his arms and thighs are very pronounced making it seem like he was a strong athlete. The man is looking downward and looks like it is leaning slightly making it seem like a very realistic pose. I enjoyed seeing everything that I did but I would love to experience it when I am older so that I can see if my views and understanding change. During class I learned how to look at different art pieces in different ways and it helped me to use the information I had learned to focus on the artists and the artwork and understand it. Humanities class taught me to look further into the artwork and try to understand it and experience a feeling from it instead of just glancing and moving on. Before this class I would just look at the painting as it was and not try to interpret it. Before I never looked at it in a way that the artist was trying to show you themselves and how they felt. I never really had an appreciation for art before taking Humanities or visiting the
