In the movie Finding Nemo Marlin follows the cycle of the hero's journey because he gets called out to adventure, has a mentor that uses her humor to overcome her weakness and faces many tests on his long journey. The author possibly send Marlin on a adventure to show that if a person really cares about something they should do anything to achieve even if is the biggest fear that you have. An example of that is Marlin takes the leap of faith he overcomes what was his guardian. His guardian was anxiety which is internal. His anxiety always confined him to what he knew was safe. Dory almost died in this section of the movie because Marlin did not trust Dory when she said that they should really swim through the trench and not over it. Through Dory’s example and the support of other sea creatures, Marlin goes through his encounters, endures his traumatic voyage through the sea, overcomes his fears and learns to trust others and to believe in himself.
