Farah’s life at school was hard for her because she could barely speak english. Her mother’s cough kept her up all night and her homework load didn’t help. When Farah met Alyce her life was relieved, “I tried very hard to catch up, but I just couldn’t, and the effort brought me to tears. Alyce saw me in that state one day and said ‘Come home with me. Let’s have some tea and talk it over’...Alyce said, ‘Now, don’t get all hung up on what other people say you just go ahead and do it’” (218 and 240). Without Alyce, Farah could have never experienced a happy moment in America. Alyce helped her realize that nothing can stand in your way if you don’t let it, and helped Farah get over her school and social issues. Farah was very thankful for Alyce. Nemo missed his dad, Marlin, ever since Nemo was put in the tank all he wanted was to get back in the ocean. Gil, Nemo’s friend, knew how much Nemo wanted to get back home, but Gil also knew Nemo wasn’t strong enough to escape the tank. Gil made him do many trials leading up to the big escape,

Lessons learned by others are some of the most important things you can learn, Farah and Nemo both saved people's lives on their return home and they couldn't of done it without those experiences.
The society we live in today is filled with people that get in our way and with people who are willing to extend a helping hand. The type of people that are willing to lend a hand are a big help when trying to get out of difficulties. Farah and Nemo from land and from water part in a quest where they both have a handicap, are accompanied by a companion, and upon arrival they use their new knowledge.
