Finding Justice In Oedipus The King

There's different ways a novel may reveal justice. In some novels justice may come in the form of revenge, to find who’s responsible for a crime, or to make the right decision at a time being. However the character I chose, is Oedipus from the novel Oedipus Rex. He's the perfect example of someone who is searching for justice to save his city, and he won't rest until he accomplishes that. In the novel, Oedipus Rex, the city of Thebes is suffering Greg starvation. The people of the city were dying and Oedipus, being the king, had to find the solution to this problem. Apollo revealed that in order to end the suffering of his city; he must find justice for Laius’ death. That's when Oedipus journey to seek justice began. He gathered his people to ask for their help; in order to find the person responsible for Laius death. Oedipus was determined to seek justice for that death; to restore the peace of his city. He was not a bad man, and he didn't mean no harm to the city when he killed that man in the crossroad. He wanted what was best for the city, and Oedipus knew that the only way to save his people was turning himself in. This shows that Oedipus was a caring king. In order to stay true to his character he had to find justice for Laius’ death; even if it meant turning himself in. In this novel the hero went from glory to downfall all in the curse of seeking justice. His actions showed that even a wise King has flaws, yet in order to be a great person you must always do the right thing. At the end of all of Oedipus work; he found justice to find peace for his city. Oedipus Rex will always be the perfect example ragtag people still know what the word justice means and what it comes with that. Justice means to be fair and that comes with sacrifice. That's what Oedipus Rex is all
