If Walter Mitty had never tried to change, then Cheryl Melhoff would never of liked Walter, because Walter would have been fired because he didn’t find the 25th picture. Walter initially does change when he first meets his new boss, Ted Hendricks.“Before Walter gets in the elevator he is happy but when he gets in the elevator with his new boss the boss makes fun of him and Walter gets frustrated” (The Secret Life of Walter Mitty). People go all over to change, but Walter just had to travel to a few places to show that he can change and be responsible.In order for change to happen, you must be committed; in this case, the part where Walter decided to go to Greenland and find the 25th picture shows he’s committed to change. Previously, Walter doesn’t step up to the plate, but when he goes to Greenland he keeps trying and trying until he finds the picture.This is like the poem “If” by Rudyard Kipling at the end when he changes from a little boy into a man just like Walter.
