This organisation depends on donations mainly, most of its funding comes from tourists, sponsors, friends and family. It is recognised there are financial problems where there is a lack of funding as well as the organization had no fundraising plan. Management was occupied with day-to-day crises and had not been able to pursue broader strategic and operational tactics to their emerging issues.
The objective of this case study is one that would allow us to identify the benefits of proper funding of the Healing with Horses Foundation and its impact on the community and special needs children. In doing so the intended research will assess how well the organization functioned with the financial constraints they faced, identify major challenges caused by these financial constraints that are common among non-profits, and discuss the implications of them continuing to serve the need within the community without financial sustainability.
The objectives of doing this research as students is that it would provide us the students the opportunity to learn about the research process and gain possible networking skills. From doing the research we are able to develop critical thinking, creativity, problem solving and intellectual independence. The interview is given in order to gain a better understanding of the organisation, what they do and the challenges that they are faced with key people within the organisation will be identified and interview structured in a way that would aid the study. Secondary data would also be used, which would be obtained from the Foundation’s web page, documents and associates along with observation that will be made during the investigation process.
The Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities, and Threats (SWOT) analysis is a tool to help understand the foundation’s ability and capacity to be financially sustainable. Based on this information gathered from the analysis, we will develop strategies to take advantage of strengths and opportunities and minimize the impact of weaknesses and threats.
