Financial power is seen to us throughout the novel especially through the Boss and Curley. The Boss naturally has this power simply because he is the owner of the ranch has the power to hire and fire workers, therefore no one can tell him what to do. Curley’s power is handed to him, mainly because his father owns the ranch his rank and money are given, he doesn't have to gain nor work for it. In chapter two, when George and Lennie first arrive, the Boss asks why they quit in weed, George answers very quick and prompt showing that he was expecting this question and had the answer rehearsed.
