Financial Literacy is defined as the ability to use knowledge and skills to manage financial resources effectively for a lifetime of financial well-being. (2008 Annual Report to the President). The took three online lessons I took from the USA FUNDS website was “How will I pay for Higher Education?”, “How do I achieve my goals?”, and “How do I manage my school life?” The lesson “ How will I pay for Higher Education main points were informing readers of the different resources such as scholarships, grants, and loans being the last option could be used to help pay for higher education and they also explained how they work. The first point was to find out the cost of your education before time, so you could have an idea how much you need to save. I will apply this lesson in my life by researching and calling schools that I plan to attend in the future ahead of time dealing with the cost that I will have to pay for my education. The second point is to create action plans for your goals, and I will apply this point in my personal life by setting all the tasks to a desired time I would like to complete it, and if any obstacles appear I must find possible solutions. The last point is to make the best use of my time, and I will apply this goal in my personal by using all the time I have wisely to get the important things done first, and the least important later. There are some points in the lessons that could help me in my academic life such as, “Students should take out direct loans after they have exhausted all the free money”, create S.M.A.R.T goals, and “Good notes are the key to maximizing what I learn.” I will use the three points in my academic life by making sure I apply for as many scholarships to pay for my college education, so I won’t have to take out Direct Loans for classes to get into my desired career.
