Financial Aid Response Essay

Unfortunately, I am currently in the middle of a financial aid related dilemma. This letter is an inquiry to request an adjustment to my financial aid award. Not reflected in my FAFSA and CSS particularly well, is my home life situation. While my grandmother resides in New York, my father spends time with her there and she is in our house frequently so that my father is able to monitor her more closely and be more supportive health-wise and emotionally. She is ninety-four years old and has extremely limited mobility. She requires a great deal of assistance. My father is the only source of income for my family, and he frequently needs to help her limiting his ability to work. She lives on a fixed income that my family supplements. In some areas like Stamford, Ct. and Lexington, Ky.the range between the median income and the cost of living is only 2% I live in Bergen County, NJ, which has a median income to cost of living ratio that is approximately 20%. A person’s disposable income earned in most other parts of the country would go much further than a person in Paramus. Therefore, it appears that my family’s income level would not necessitate financial need, but this is not the case because this number is based on the national average and not the significantly higher cost of living ratio in my area. Also, for your consideration, I have had additional achievements since my initial application. On April 8th, as president of my Quiz Bowl Team, we have won the SkillsUSA Quiz Bowl State Championship and will be going to Nationals in June. I have maintained all of my grades and other extracurriculars. Soon I will be receiving an honor for my exceptional work at my internship at a financial planning
