Final Meeting Reflection

The final meeting of the year 2016 began with a welcome from Mrs. Cruz who is the Women, Infant and Children (WIC) program project director, and she introduced to the staff a new hire, Thea Parayno. Thea gave a short speech by sharing her experience in the program and thanking several staff who had trained her in certain job duties.
Eileen Buckner, peer counselor coordinator, presented to the staff her four peer counselors’ graduates and thanked them for their efforts in helping to increase the breastfeeding rate. Mrs.Cruz revealed that the breastfeeding rate for Wyckoff Heights WIC Program is at 15 percent while the state recommends 10 percent and our agency is doing well. She also said that the phone line 718-963-6161 was out of service for a few days and the line had been restored. Tracy (Nutrition Assistant) suggested that the phone lines should be personalized to the designated departments. For example, if a participant calls to speak to a clerk, nutritionist or a breastfeeding peer counselor, the phone operator may say press 1 or 2 or 3 to reach the right …show more content…
Mrs.Cruz would like all the phones to ring, not just the 6471 extension so that any employee can answer the phones. Tessie said that cell phones can also be used to call participants for the daily schedule and no shows.
Himrod Site 03 - Mrs. Cruz asked the staff to answer how the caseload can be improved. Lydia said that the outbound transfers should be documented by the employee authorizing the transfers so that the agency will know the specific reasons for the request. We would like to know whether the participants dislike our agency’s services or are relocating.
Tessie has reminded all employees to register for the specific training at the Cicatelli training center which can be accessed in the WIC data folder at the administrative computer. The Human Resources department has asked that all employees complete a certain number of education hours for the year. Lydia said that the policy and procedural binder at Williamsburg needs to be revised since the auditors may visit that site for the upcoming site review.
