Final Level/Program Reflection I began the nursing program with very minimal nursing knowledge. Throughout the curriculum, I learned the fundamental skills of being a nurse, but my learning went further than skills. The greatest accomplishment I will take away from this program is an improved understanding of what nursing is: facilitation of healing, alleviation of suffering, protection and promotion of health, and advocacy for patients, families, and communities. This idea has been discussed numerous times throughout the curriculum, and as I approach graduation, I finally appreciate the meaning of "what is nursing." The use of clinical preparation worksheets in clinical facilitated an improvement understanding of acute and chronic health conditions through evaluation of physiological changes, medical and pharmacological interventions, and necessary nursing measures. These fundamental tools helped build a better understanding of various illnesses across the lifespan. Lastly and most importantly, through distinct patient interactions, I learned to better communicate with individuals and offer emotional support when it is most needed. Exposure to patients of diverse backgrounds and stages of life allowed me to become competent in providing age and culturally appropriate, safe, and effective care.
Strengths and Improvements for Objective My interpersonal skills have greatly improved throughout the program, allowing me to better interact with patients of diverse backgrounds. I have learned that being genuinely interested in the patient and their needs is a great tool for improving health outcomes. I feel comfortable interacting with all patient populations and providing personalized care. An area to improve in is connecting pathophysiology and pharmacology concepts to specific patient cases. This is as essential skill for monitoring patient status and providing necessary interventions based on their health condition.
