Thesis:
Although many people felt the assassination of the Hutu President led directly to the genocide, it was really because of the years of inequality between the Hutus and Tutsis. In modern day many Tutsi survivors found it difficult to live in Rwanda where the genocide occurred, but some survivors found it much easier to forgive their perpetrator.

In other words, the assassination could be an underlying reason that sparked the Rwandan Genocide. This did not directly lead to the Genocide, however it did start violence and tension between Hutus and Tutsis.

“During the 1950s the Hutus became increasingly vocal regarding their grievances about the inequalities of Rwanda’s political and social system,” (Adelman, 2017).

Hutus felt there was a problem between the equalities between them and the Tutsis, this relates to the thesis because the genocide started in the 90’s while this quote states that the problem occurred throughout the 50’s. Four years of unequal treatment went on, showing that it led directly to the genocide.
