Modernising Medical Careers according to Wikipedia is a programme designed to provide postgraduate medical training for medical personnel in the United Kingdom. Introduced in 2005, the programme was designed to serve as a better platform for medical personnel seeking to attain the position of ‘consultant’. It has been widely postulated that the HR practices and policies of the organisation were contributors to its inability to execute its core mandate.

The MMC incorporated the provision of job offers to recruits at the end of their training program to differentiate it from the old system where junior doctors apply on their own. They brought to bear a whole new perspective of training, moving from the Pre-Registration House Officer system to the modernised version; Foundation House Officer. They also formalised the link between the Pre-Registration House Officer and the Senior House Officer status, which was hitherto non-existent.
Transparency and ease of access. The MMC directed applications from the central body in the old system to a more user friendly website where applicants could access their application forms and also updates of their application status. Through the Medical Training Application Service, applicants were able to access their application status through a web based interface.
The MMC appointed top medical professionals to occupy top functional positions to ensure that the best brains are employed in delivering services to recruits. With the establishment of Local Education and Training Boards, checks and measures, there is the assurance that MMC churns out the best brains in the field.
The strategies adopted by the MMC span across the functional areas of culture, people,
