One of the first realistic fiction stories we read was “Biderbiks Don’t Cry” by Avi. I personally believe that this tory had the most important theme statement, it’s more important to accept yourself than have others accept you. This is shown when Charlie gets home from getting beat up. When Charlie tells his father what happened, he gets mad at Charlie for not fighting when he should have been taking care of his injured son. This is also shown when Charlie’s father forces Charlie to take boxing lessons, despite Charlie’s hate for fighting.…

Cole had a very strange “secret” in which he can see and communicate with ghost. I believe that the reason that prevents the success of 18 Mighty Mountain Warriors is because Americans cannot really relate to them. In Asians in America: Millennial Approaches to Asian Pacific American Performance by Karen Shimakawa, she discusses that the 18 Mighty Mountain Warriors admits that their humor sometimes “ride the fine line of reality, offensiveness, and absurdity.” In the film, 18 Mighty Mountain Warriors, Harold Byun also states that the problem of their show is that other people cannot stand what they do. The reason is that they represent the stereotypes among Asian Americans in their comedy skits. Rather than breaking these stereotypes, other see it as more reinforcement.…

Bullying: Why It Happens The documentary Bully, directed by Lee Hirsch argues that bullying is an on-growing social problem occurring in America that is not receiving the acknowledgment it deserves. The film shows how oblivious adults ignore the issue and classify it as a normality, while also showing a clear insight to the mental and physical abuse kids face everyday. Hirsch supports his argument with his successful use of ethos, logos and pathos by weaving together the stories of five different families who have first hand experience with bullying, making them reliable sources. The directors purpose is to inform the audience on bullying and to create a new realization of this ongoing issue, so kids can rise above and empower one another…

It can be just a matter of perspective whether we hold the view that there are somewhat inevitable connection among events or there only exists sheer chance. For how can we judge the existence of relationship, a invisible thing? In that case, it is more fruitful to think about what is the healthy way to cope with seeming contingency than to be engrossed in the discussion about something is a chance product or not. It is because paranoia no less distresses its possessor than a world with no causality at all make one uneasy. Given that, some other attitude toward contingency should be possible, other than the commence of chance or the conspiracy theory.…
