One of the Collin’s who was able to turn her life around after this unexpected death was Wanda, the mother of Terrell. Wanda had been using drugs and living on the streets of Chicago since the age of 12. Through many attempts to get sober, she continued to find herself relapsing and the addiction had taken over her life. Having the support and encouragement from her family will motivate her to continue receiving services and maintain her sobriety. For most of Wanda’s life, she has been influenced by negative supports that provided her with drugs and did not want to see her become successful. I do not feel that Wanda ever knew who she truly was or what she could be without drugs, until she became sober. Since getting her children back, she needs to learn how to be a good mother and deal with stressful situations that may arise in this new chapter. Dorothy has raised Wanda’s children and if she is able to work with Wanda to show her how to handle being a mother, this will help relieve some of the stress and educate her about
