After looking through various events and cross referencing with the pre-approved list, I realized that watching the documentary, Generation Found , would be a productive move. Generation
Found really fascinated me because it really connected with a social and ongoing problem not only in the United States as a whole, but in local communities as close as my own home, as well, peaking my interest as a sociology major.

Overall, the message of the movie was precise and clean, allowing the reader to really ravel in the current issue at hand of student drug addictions and the solutions that the community can take to prevent adolescents from destroying their future and promoting a healthy lifestyle.
Personally, I could connect to this story as it evokes in me the struggles I personally face at UCONN and also growing up at Danbury High School, one of the largest and most diverse public high schools in Connecticut. Growing up, the influence of drugs has always been prevalent, but seen as a positive form of popularity, tempting students from even the most safe and secure background to try and become regular users. After entering high school, the persona I created for myself reflected my curiosity and wild side. By creating a friend group revolving around these characteristics, I gained a peer group that was willing to do anything to have fun, pushing the boundaries of the accepted means, in the eyes of some people, while forfeiting a piece of my humanity.
