Freedom Writers Reflection

Together There is a time in everyone’s life when they have to make a choice, to remain comfortable or to step out and make a difference in the world around them. In the book Twilight Los Angeles there were many interview that where documented from the Los Angeles Riots. Hearing these different perspectives really got me thinking that maybe this books purpose was to cause the reader to see what difference they could make in there society. There are many pieces of art such as movies, TV shows, books, paintings and music that all have this same challenge. But more specifically they deal with the topics of race, class and economic status, such dose the book Twilight Los Angeles. These kids started off viewing the world as a very ugly place and had a lot of hatred in there heart toward people who have hurt them in the past. But it took a loving, patience and determined teacher who believed that people can change they just need to be shown how to. Throughout the movie it showed how this English teacher shows the student the power of writhing and how to have a voice by doing it. She challenged them to not hold back in their writing and tells them the importance of letting your voice be heard. At first most students don’t believe on what she is saying is true but as they start writhing they realize that they have a lot to say. I think that this was a very important part of the movie because it showed that as young people or maybe by the color of your skin people tend to look down upon you like you don’t know what you are talking about and so they toss you opinions your thought out the window, this movies show that everyone has a voice and no ones voice is more important than
