Throughout American history, the topic of gun control has been an argument filled with controversy. There have been a number of traumatic events in the country that involved the use of guns; Because of this, many Americans have become weary to the thought of anyone being able to carry a gun. Over the years, there have been many different stances developed pertaining to this topic. Texas Law states that “a person can also shoot someone they if they reasonably believe deadly force is necessary to prevent someone else from trying to kill or seriously injure them, or there is the threat of certain crimes such as sexual assault or aggravated kidnapping” (Schwaller, 2015) This was a law set to protect what one considers valuable, whether it be his or her own families or even just to protect oneself from harms way. In 2007 there was a man who saw his neighbors’ house being broken into and saw the assailants fleeing the home. The man then proceeded to call 911 to inform them he intended to shoot the burglars should they not stop fleeing. He shot both assailants and a year later he was acquitted.…
Gun control is one of many contemporary social problems that has created a lot of controversy and disagreement between a variety of groups in the United States. Underlying this issue as well as others is the Conflict Theory, one of the few traditions highlighted by Randall Collins in his book, Four Sociological Traditions. Disagreements can arise from individual beliefs that end up opposing one another, and once these conflicts reach their tipping point, one side become alienated, and change begins to be fought for. In the present day, there is so much disagreement that it makes the Conflict Theory one of the most relevant traditions for explaining and understanding society as it currently is due to the constant disagreements between people.…
In American society, violence runs rampage throughout the country causing its citizens to be trepidacious and demoralize. One of the major components of violence in America emanates from guns. In the documentary, "Bowling for Columbine", Michael Moore, a famous filmmaker, addresses the ubiquitous situation in America. He argues that the use of gun in America co-insides or correlates to the recent massacres; as a whole, America should have stricter gun control laws. Throughout the film, Moore uses specific references to stricter gun control laws by employing ethos, pathos and logos to construct his argument in order to convince his audience.…

“I look forward to a great future for America. A future in which our country will match its military strength with our moral restraints, it’s wealth with our wisdom, its power with our purpose,” said John F. Kennedy, the 35th President of the United States of America. This great president was shot and killed by a gun, and to be more specific, a 6.5mm Carcano rifle that was easily obtained and that changed the course of history in America forever. The U.S. needs more gun regulations. If only year 1963 had gun regulations like it does now, a tragedy such as the assassination of John F. Kennedy on November 22, in Dallas, Texas, could have been prevented.…

Our country was built on the ideas life, liberty, and property. To achieve these ideals the Founding Fathers of our country devised a constitution with a Bill of Rights. All of these rights have led to a safer and brighter future for America. However, one of the most argued and most controversial of these Amendments is the Second Amendment, and it simply shouldn’t be. Guns bring a balance and a sense of safety when used in the right hands.…
Gun Control There is so much controversy in America and one of those controversial topics is gun control. America needs to come together and work together to create a solution to all the gun violence in the country. There has been too many shootings, deaths, and injuries and the government can change that. The country needs to come together to find a way to make both sides of the argument equal by creating a balance in the arguments.…
In the past few decades, firearms have had a big impact on society. These impacts have been both good and evil, and have caused controversy on the topic of gun ownership. Some groups, such as the Brady Campaign, would like to see gun control laws take away some rights and restrict others, whereas the National Rifle Association would like to protect gun rights and educate society on the use of firearms. Both sides want to stop the problem of gun violence, but protecting gun rights is the only way to truly insure public safety. Gun control will not be able to stop the use of guns, and it will put citizens in an unfair situation where they cannot protect themselves.…
The culture and laws of a country are heavily influenced by its history. The United States of America was born out of violence. On July 4th 1776, a group of well-respected Americans signed The Declaration of Independence, officially announcing America’s separation from Great Brittan and initiating the Revolutionary War. Once America emerged as victors of the war in 1783, in order to protect the civil rights of American citizens, laws were created by members of legislature. Today, one of the most controversial laws can be found under the second amendment of the Bill of Rights.…
Guns do not kill people. People kill people. There are a lot of reasons that gun control is not the answer. I am strongly against gun control, because I think that if we go through with these laws it will not help. I think it will increase the deaths by guns, and I do not want people to die, that is why I am against it.…
All in all, I found this movie interesting as a view into our court system (through as expected everything is most likely not precisely accurate), and I would recommend it to…
