There were programs and resources developed to assist families in poverty. However, some of those families did not have access to those programs and resources. Neumann and Mucciolo & Neumann (2012) stated that this was illustrated when Britany’s friend Monica in the film, was not in the Nutrient Club. Monica was on the waiting list for the Nutrient Club, which was a program at their school that allowed students to have meals every Friday that they should have taken home. Brittany, in the film, stated that the meals were for the entire weekend, until the children were back at school. Brittany and Roger’s family shows that they know about the resources in their community. According to Neumann and Mucciolo & Neumann (2012) Brittany goes to food banks for food supplies and she is in the Nutrient Club. The Davis family knows about the resources in their community, because they go to food banks as well and they live in the shelter, until they moved into a new home. However, Kaylie’s family does not know about the resources in the community, because they constantly move around from motels. Throughout the film, they do not show that they know about the local food banks or community resources. Therefore, it is an ethical principle that we inform families about resources in their community, regardless if the families are living in poverty or
