In “Under the Same Moon”, the writer Ligiah Villalobos uses friendship and love throughout the movie to show the importance of them. This movie is based on illegal immigration and the love between a mother, Rosario and son, Carlitos. Rosario leaves Mexico to go to the United States but this was done illegally, she leaves her son behind with his grandmother, aunt and uncle. Most people would say she was wrong to leave her son behind but she never forgot about him. She would call Carlitos every Sunday at 10 a.m. Rosario wasn’t being selfish when she left Mexico, mothers will do anything to make sure their children is taken care of. She shows she still cares about her son and still want the best for him or she wouldn’t be in the United States
