Throughout the movie there are some inspiring scenes that really capture the tone and emotions they wanted to send out to the audience. For instance, theres a scene where Charlie and Patrick are blasting a Bowie song while driving and Sam is standing on the back of the truck as they head down a tunnel. That scene really showed Sam’s free spirit and Charlie seeing beauty in life and in Sam. Another example of the stellar cinematography is towards the end. Charlie is thinking about everything and the scene is going back and forth between sad Charlie and a series of flashbacks of bad memories. This scene shows how Charlie is remembering all his suppressed memories from his childhood and it’s flooding him with emotions. The quick back and forth made the audience feel for Charlie’s emotional state. The Perks of Being a Wallflower has multiple qualities of a great movie. It’s a beautiful coming of age story that can make a person tear up. Like Charlie, we all need friends to be social and help get through things. If he didn't have Patrick and Sam, Charlie might've been eaten up by his depression. They exposed him to a new side of life. Charlie was no longer just an innocent
