Film Analysis: The Falsely Accused

Improved Essays
The Falsely Accused In July of 2016, Micah Johnson interrupted a “Black Lives Matter” protest to attack the police officers who were protecting the participants in the march. Out of malice, he murdered five officers whose intent was only to keep the people safe. Blind vengeance caused this killer to take matters into his own hands resulting in the death of five innocent men. The hysteria in the Salem witch trials is similar to the hysteria towards police officers now because they both are being blamed with no evidence, being blamed out of vengeance, and or being blamed from what society pushes. The police are getting blamed with little to no evidence to back the accusations up. Police departments are saying that the officers are …show more content…
All throughout the play Abbygail shows her hatred for Proctor’s wife, such as when she was trying to kill Elizabeth with spells. Although when Proctor rejects her for the last time, she moves unswervingly on her course of vengeance (Gussow). Not with the same reason, but the same passionate vengeance is what has caused the harmful acts against the police. For Example, towards the end of the attacks in Dallas, Johnson once he was surrounded by police, told the negotiators that he would kill more law enforcement (Fernandez). Johnson's actions were the result of pure hatred and nothing less. According to an interview done with Johnson’s family, his mother told the interviewer that “Johnson’s festering anger seemed to boil over after the recent police-involved shootings” which was proving no point since the police officer was said to be justified (Howertown). Hatred and anger drove Johnson and the accusers in salem to harm the innocent because of their own feuds with …show more content…
Rebecca Nurse, who everyone knew to be one of the most pure and loving woman in the town, was charged illogically. Francis Nurse, makes a point to hale about how baffled he and everyone else is when he cries out, “My wife is the very brick and mortar of the church, Mr.Hale, and Martha Corey, there is no woman closer to God than Martha” (Miller II. 686). Which he is definitely correct in the sense that it is unbelievable that these two women of many were charged. Yet again, we see the similarities toward the police when an officer was murdered in his home. He was killed in what was said to be an ambush style attack, when he was described by an officer who worked closely with him as a six foot four 270 pound “gentle bear” (Blue Lives Matter). The confusion of the officer who lost his good friend is seen as a reflection of what Francis Nurse was feeling when he heard his wife was accused. Nobody understands why these good people are being

All around the world, there are controversies over police shootings and dirty police officers. Many people say that officers should wear cameras on their uniforms to prevent any other riots, such as the Michael Brown riots in Ferguson, St. Louis. Whenever there is a shooting and there are no bystanders to see what actually happened, there should be some sort of recording device with the officer to see what he is doing. When Police Officers sign up to join the force, they should be prepared for anything while they are in uniform. To keep people from causing a riot, because they say that the person was shot did not deserve it.…

Even in modern day non-theocratic societies, this norm are still current, making an unfair challenge for many women. This issue is apparent in The Crucible, as the Puritan religious beliefs lead the men to the conclusion that women are inherently below them, limiting their power in society. As Arthur Miller depicts in the Crucible, power must be derived from various sources as a woman.…

Thomas Kim #3 Ms. Lin English Honors 10A November 5, 2015 Reverend Hale and Justice If a distorted justice seeks to exist and to disappear in a society, then there must be those who support and oppose it. In Arthur Miller’s The Crucible, Reverend Hale played a key role in both the affirmative and the dissenting sides of the trials by promoting the existing theocratic justice, doubting it later on, and opposing it in the end, which sends a signal to everyone that the theocratic justice is not absolute and completely justified. At first, Hale initiates the witch trials by explicitly supporting the laws and the court. However, as the court’s absurdity increases with its attempt to maintain its reputation by condemning innocents to their ruins,…

If you attempt to Google “victimization of those that work in the system”, the first thing that is going to come up is someone else asking, “Can police officers be victimized?” Needless to say, I felt that the Internet could not help me, so if this makes no sense, I apologize. Anyways, I thought about that question on Google that had a seemingly obvious answer. Those who work in the system are only human, meaning that of course, they can be victimized. If we look at them just as people, the list of types of victimization could be never ending.…
