In 1989, Rafsanjani Hashemi was elected as the president; he helped Iran move into a phase of economic and cultural changes (Adr, 2006). The minister of culture and Islamic studies Mohamad Khatami influenced the state of Iranian cinema. He helped Iranian cinema to flourish and rediscover a new phase. Despite all constraints, this period witnessed the emergence of a significant number of female filmmakers and directors. These female filmmakers were known by raising sensitive and controversial issues about women’s difficult conditions and their rights. Most of the box office hits were comedy films that tried to present the struggles of the Iranian society in a satirical way.

In 1991, this film was the box office hit and had a considerable presence of women characters. The actress Niki Karimi was presented as a beautiful woman with a face full of makeup.
