The 1960s was a pivotal time period in America, ranging from the war in Vietnam to man stepping foot on the moon. CNN’s recent release The Sixties is a series of episodes containing the most popular events that occurred in and shaped the decade of the 1960s. Episode three, The Assassination of President Kennedy, was produced by EMMY Award-winning producer Mark Herzog and by EMMY Award-winning executive producers Tom Hanks and Gary Goetzman. A fact-filled documentary that isn’t boring is hard to come by. CNN’s action- packed documentary The Assassination of President Kennedy keeps viewers glued to the couch anticipating the end of the commercials; the viewer is exposed to footage that other documentaries do not show and also allows them to be …show more content…
The producers did a great job with this because one does not want to overestimate their audience and assume they automatically know about Kennedy’s assassination. If producers do overestimate their audience, some people are left clueless, not knowing what the narrator of the documentary is talking about. Thus, this film is appropriate for all ages from high school students writing a paper on President Kennedy to nostalgic baby boomers. On the down side on this documentary, if the viewer already knows the background information, they will think it has a slow start. The real action doesn’t begin to happen until forty minutes into the documentary.
As they begin to show old films from 1963, one can’t help but notice the color restoration and sound quality of the video. When this documentary is compared to CNN’s documentary President Kennedy Has Been Shot, that was produced eleven years ago, viewers can see the amazing increase in quality. Most pictures and videos in the recent documentary are shown in black and white, and few are in color with little to no blurring. With today’s technology, the sound of this documentary is clearer and concise

This causes for interesting points of view. Though the most interesting thing overall is that almost all of the journalists have the same opinion, Lee Harvey Oswald acted alone when assassinating the president. CNN’s The Assassination of President Kennedy’s main outcome is to make the viewer believe that there is no conspiracy theory, and Lee Harvey Oswald acted alone. The only reason the CNN is semi-successful with this is because they only provide evidence for their theory; they don’t leave it open for the viewer’s own interpretation. This documentary is basically an action-packed visualization of The Warren Commission’s, The Warren Report. The Warren Report is a collection of national archives and reports on John F. Kennedy’s assassination, that also leads to the conclusion that Oswald acted

JFK Film Review Oliver Stone’s “JFK,” released in 1991, follows Jim Garrison in a quest for truth. Although official reports from the Warren Commission of John F. Kennedy’s assassination claim that Lee Harvey Oswald acted alone, the majority of Americans believe that there was a conspiracy behind Kennedy’s murder. Stone’s “JFK” combines historical evidence with fictional action to present a fascinating film. Although “JFK” does not answer the mystery behind the Kennedy assassination, the film leads the audience to conclude that one man alone could not have killed Kennedy. Stone’s “JFK” contains many factual inaccuracies and fabricated actions, but ultimately shapes public opinion towards a conspiracy theory behind Kennedy’s assassination.…

And the shock of the assassination, the mystery and violence of Lee Harvey Oswald shot by Jack Ruby, and the grief-filled pageantry of the coffin drawn through the streets of Washington, D.C. continue to haunt our country on this day. As someone who has lived my entire life as an American with only a vague ghost of JFK present, the death of Kennedy appears to represent more than a personal loss for the individuals of the preceding generations. Rather, the death of John F. Kennedy represented a death for the country itself. I asked my grandmother about the assassination and she reminded me that the President had died early in his presidency, and, “If he had been allowed to live, he might have…
