Before the illusion of the gods was created the non-perishables, many grocery items were in disarray, lacked drive and passion. They lived fearing the unknown and what waited for them beyond the doors of the supermarket. The non-perishables made up the “Great Beyond” so groceries would be calmer about being purchased. It was also used to prevent panic and reassure them that there was a better world for them. Technically, this creates a religion gives the groceries a desire to existent and “die”. According to the Existentialism text, it states, “It is impossible to exist without passion, unless existing means just any sort of so-called existence” (22). This means that living without passion for something leaves a person wondering why he/she is alive. The person would have no passion or drive to do anything. In contrast, the non-perishables changed that narrative by filling the groceries’ minds with optimism about the world outside of the supermarket. Everything is indeed permitted if God does not exist, and man is in consequence forlorn, for he cannot find anything to depend upon either within or outside himself (211).
This means if God was dead (or the idea of God) or silent, there would be no guidelines, leaving us to do what we want with no regret. It is this that causes Frank to go against the public, while knowing that he would be seen as crazy. Since he knows the truth that there is no god(s), he does not care of the about the aftermath of his actions.
In conclusion, Sausage Party is great film that on the surface seem to be just an adult comedy but explores real in-depth issues throughout the story. It is a notable example of an existential piece of art. As I stated it give examples from three existential thinkers and their ideals. I strongly recommend this film if anyone looking for a funny representation of the struggle to find
