Ill Manors (2012) is a low budget British crime/drama film, written and directed by Ben Drew who is also an artist that goes by the name Plan B. The violence and controlling attitude between characters was shocking and made me think about how easy it is to get mixed in with the wrong crowd in areas that this film is set. Ill Manors as a film shows the bad and the horrors of being mixed in with drugs and I liked seeing how the lives of different drug dealers were interlinked and how certain decisions effected everyone.
The film shows how rough some places can be, and how horrible some people can be. This film also shows that people don’t care about women or about anyone but themselves. I think it’s quite ironic that the one guy who walks around thinking he is all that and no one can mess with him because he will kill them, ends up getting shot in the head by a child. The results and consequences of even the smallest decision are shown throughout. Women are just seen as sex objects and are treated horribly throughout. Children are abused and teenagers’ lives are tied up and often lost in drugs. They believe they have no future and drugs and gangs are the only way to go. With feeling like they have been lost through the system, they are left with little choice but to fight and carry on making a living the only way they know how.
