“I want to live again,” George Bailey yelled after wishing he wasn’t born and seeing the significance of his life on others after being transported to a world where he wasn’t born. George helped houses be built in his town, providing agreeable homes for the people in Bedford Falls. George moreover rescued Harry, George’s younger brother, from drowning when Harry was small. George saved Mr. Gougher, the drug store owner, from putting dangerous poison in someone’s medication accidentally, as well. The movie, “It’s a Wonderful Life” displays all life as meaningful in the way it helps others.
Primarily, George’s life was meaningful because George built houses in his town, giving the townspeople decent and affordable homes. George’s company, The Bailey Building and Loan, helped build Bailey Park, which was full of houses. When he saw what life was like without him, he saw that Bailey Park was a dark cemetery. In the world where George was born, a taxi driver he knew lived in a fine house in Bailey Park. George dragged Harry out of the freezing water when he fell in and then George lost hearing in one ear. George prevented his parents from feeling the terrible grief of losing a child. Harry later went on to join the military, shoot down fifteen enemy planes, and save a group of soldiers in a transport from death. If George was never born, Harry would have died as a young child, those 15 enemy planes would not have been shot down and would have likely killed more soldiers, and the group of soldiers in the transport would have died.
