Film Analysis: Guns Don 'T Cry'

In the movie, Louis began running when he is yelled at for peeking at the runners on the track from underneath the bleachers during his brother’s track race. When an older man yells at him, he runs across the track and jumps over the fence. This action convinces Pete to start training his brother to succeed as a track star. In reality, Louis begins running when a group of older girls flatter him into a race. He ended up placing last and hid underneath the bleachers. Zamperini grew up in poverty, although this is not really portrayed in the movie much. The movie does show how he was beaten up as a child and often got into fights, but it doesn’t show how he first taken up boxing as a defense mechanism against his bullies before switching to running. …show more content…
In the movie, Pete tells Louis to remember the words: “A moment of pain is worth a lifetime of glory,” when Louis boards the train departing towards the 1936 Olympics in Berlin, Germany. Louis did in fact remember Pete’s words while he was racing in the 5000 meter event, helping him achieve the record beating time of 56 seconds on his final
