wasn’t something that I was familiar with. I had no idea that Exodus: Gods and Kings was a movie and that it would be set to debut soon. It wasn’t until one day while on social media outlet, Twitter, that there was talk about billionaire Rupert Murdoch’s post with his opinion on Exodus’ white cast. These are his words exactly, “Moses film attacked on Twitter for all white cast. Since when are Egyptians not white? All I know are.” Thousands of people were responding to his tweet, calling his theory absolutely blasphemous. The movie Exodus is rewriting the history of the original Egyptians. You don’t learn in school that blacks were once and still are kings and queens in some countries. Blacks can be portrayed in history, movies, books, media, etc. as once being slaves but not being seen as the ones in control over others, when our history says otherwise. As Blacks, we have to educate ourselves on our history and educate others who may not know it as well. They can attempt to tell the story of Ancient Egypt by painting over details that show Blacks in reins of power but they can’t paint over ancient pictures that tell that same story displaying the most important detail, the skin
