RESULTS AND DISCUSSION
This chapter presents the results and discussion of the study on the role of filial piety in the relation of parenting style and prosocial behavior among Chinese adolescents. It presents the results and discussion of perceived maternal parenting style, Chinese adolescents’ filial piety and prosocial behavior. Moreover, it shows the results and discussion of how parenting style affect prosoical behavior and how filial piety influence prosoical behavior.

Mean score of maternal demandingness is 3.02 (SD=.59) which means that Chinese mothers tend to show high level of control to their children. Meanwhile, mean of maternal responsiveness is 3.49 (SD=.56) which indicates that Chinese mothers show high level of warmth to their children. Mean score of perceived maternal parenting is 3.25 (SD=.34), which indicates that Chinese mothers tend to be authoritative. Moreover, mean score of filial piety is 4.63 (SD=.57) which shows that Chinese adolescents posses high filial piety attitude. Specially, mean score of reciprocal filial piety is 5.48 (SD=.57), while mean score of authoritarian filial piety is 3.77 (SD=.86). This result indicates that Chinese adolescents hold high level of both reciprocal and authoritarian filial piety; however, the attitude of reciprocal filial piety is higher than that of authoritarian filial piety. Furthermore, mean score of prosocial behavior is 3.21 (SD=.50) which means that Chinese adolescents tend to prosocial to others. Specially, the subscales of prosocial behavior are public prosocial behavior (M= 2.86, SD=1.03), emotional prosocial behavior (M=3.12, SD=.90), dire prosocial behavior (M=3.74, SD=.85), anonymous prosocial behavior (M=3.25, SD=.89), altruism prosocial behavior (M=3.24, SD=.92), and compliant prosocial behavior (M=3.11, SD=1.00), respectively. The results indicated that Chinese adolescents do not show prosocial behavior in public, while show prosocial behavior in other situations.
