Fikile and Ofilwe was trying to be white so badly it messed up their lives. You can’t change, colors we are all the same, we just have different skin color. They didn’t even wanna be black anymore and that is bad if you don’t like your race. On page 118 Fikile says “ I don’t want to be black, dirty, and poor” (page 118). We are all the same you just gotta live your life the right way then you could be rich and famous. There is no difference between black and white other than color, we are all built the same. Ofilwe was self centered because of her nose also which made her stay to herself. On page 66 Ofilwe is at the camp and she said “the mud ball hit the wall and as it was sliding down it looked like my nose”( page 66). And Fikile had skin coloring lotion that made her blotchy and different colors. On page 118 Fikile talks about her bucket of bleach which she cleans herself with to make skin turn white (Page 18). They were very self centered over what they looked like and it messed them up severely mentally, and sum physically. They needed to appreciate what they looked like and live there life to the fullest. You shouldn’t try and ruin your life just over your appearance and color, you should try and continue your life with happiness even if you don’t like your color or
