Figurative Language In Jasmine Alvarado's 'Dark Nights'

“Dark Nights” by Jasmine Alvarado is a poem where the author truly expresses how they feel on nights. She talks about true the feelings that she has and expresses them in a way that best conveys herself. The title is significant because in “Dark Nights” they aren’t dark because of the sun being down but the fact that the darkest times that she has to emotionally deal with. The title expresses the meaning and the purpose of the rest of the poem and it also sets the tone of the poem.
The author uses figurative language to express how the poem was suppose to be. The author used the metaphor “You're’ in search of the light that once brightened your heart” (Alvarado 1). What this quote means is that the author lost something that made them happy.
