Mrs. Gebings phone rings asking about a false rumor, every 15 minutes. The company of P&G has become the center of attention nationwide. Many people calling seem to believe Procter’s trademark is a symbol for Satanism and devil worshipping.
In July, Procter took action by filing libel suits against seven individuals for “false and malicious” rumors. Robert Norrish, public relations director for Procter knew this was a difficult problem. However, he wanted people to understand the company only meant business. Robert Schwartz, stated “legal recourse isn’t a happy way to go, but there is no other alternative and you have to put a halt at some point.”
Many suggestions have come into Procter about changing their trademark, however Procter has rejected to do so.
