Plant Based Lifestyle Analysis

Four pneumonias, eight surgeries, twenty-four CAT scans, fifty-one x-rays, four hundred and two IV lines, countless nurses, doctors, and surgeons, and a life expectancy of about forty years old. At this point, I consider the hospital my second home. When you are made aware of the fact that there is a ticking clock counting down your every last day, hour, minute, second, and breath, an overload of epinephrine and norepinephrine flood your body. This response is known as fight or flight. Therefore, when I was told I may only have another twenty years to live, I chose to fight. I chose to fight for my family, my health, and my life. I adopted a plant-based lifestyle nearly four years ago and can attest to the wondrous, positive effects it has made in my life. Subsequently, this led me to theorize how the rest of our nation would benefit from this lifestyle change. With that being said, is a plant-based diet truly the solution to curing the millions of Americans afflicted by preventable diseases such as diabetes, heart disease, and even cancer? A myriad of nutrition experts, including Jon Gabriel, Kris Carr, and Dr. Alejandro Junger agree there has never been quite the calamitous paradox than the undoubtedly real, frightening one we face …show more content…
Nevertheless, I welcome the hostility and have even grown to appreciate it. A common misconception is that a plant-based diet signifies cutting out all foods and restricting ones self. While this does play a role in the lifestyle change, the key is to not restrict yourself. Contrary to popular belief, a plant based diet promotes integrating healing, whole foods in abundance. It is my personal belief that if there were nothing wrong with the, there would not be such aggressive and defensive oppositions.
