During my fieldwork process I learned a lot about my student, Sedaya. Over a six-week period I enjoyed our time together learning her interests and dislikes. One thing I noticed during my fieldwork is Sedaya’s memorizing abilities and ability to answer questions clearly. While completing her homework, she responded to basic questions both verbally and with the aid of her iPad. Similarly, Sedaya is kind and polite in social situations. Whether it’s a nurse, teacher, or another student, she’s always saying hi or waving as they walk by. Each time I visited her she would politely say hi, which made me feel welcome and less nervous. Finally, I experienced that Sedaya likes being independent. She doesn’t want others to assist her when completing tasks unless it’s necessary. Sedaya prefers to complete activities, crafts, and everyday tasks self-sufficiently however, she will accept help when the task’s too difficult or frustrates her. Sedaya’s always smiling, laughing, manipulating Playmobil’s, and enjoys playing games on her iPad. …show more content…

My take away from this experience is that I can handle uncomfortable situations. I was more nervous about the hospital than I was interacting and learning about Sedaya. In the end, I enjoyed every minute of my fieldwork because I learned a great deal through Sedaya. She put me at ease every time I visited her through her kindness and I’ll miss that about my

The pipeline will be placed through the Standing Rock Sioux land, which is in North Dakota, and the pipeline would affect their only water supply if the pipeline spills. I chose this area because the media doesn't show what is happening in North Dakota and I want people to be informed about what is going on in our country and stand with Standing Rock to end this battle.…
