Activity #1: Impression Management in Action
The first situation I chose to observe myself in was at a volleyball practice, and the second situation I chose to observe myself in was in physics class. I went later in the evening with my teammates for our post game meal. I noticed that the employees paid close attention to what we each wanted and made sure we all were getting what we ordered. You could see there was clear communication between the cashiers and the cooks on the different orders. The employees also showed some stress seeing my whole team in line waiting to get our food but they went about it in a quick and efficient manner. As I was observing the customers I noticed that even if they already new what the wanted to order they still took time looking at the menu. Another norm is that the customers all waited for their number to be called before they went and picked up their food. They’re not taking into account our well-being and environmental health. This is destructive to a society as a whole because when systems are not McDonaldized we still expect things to be just as fast, when that is not
