SPE ASSIGNMENT

The task for this term was to design a training program for the Track or Field event we have selected. We had to Implement the program in order to improve our performance in an event over a five-week period, in this case javelin. This presentation will discuss five chosen principles of training, this includes specificity, recovery, frequency, intensity, and duration. This presentation will also assess on how these five principles were utilized and incorporated in the created program. It will also discuss the energy systems, fitness components that specifically applies to my chosen event. It will also evaluate the created program and the changes that were made and also discuss if the programed helped me improve on the event

The components of fitness that are required to javelin are strength, flexibility, balance, coordination, speed, and power. Strength and power purpose In the execution of the throw the arm is pulled rapidly forwards with maximum strength. So most of the strength for this action comes from the pectoralis major and the triceps brachii. Flexibility purpose The ability to move our joints through their full range of movements Purpose The thrower must have flexibility around the shoulder joint of the throwing arm so that the javelin can be pulled back as far as possible so that there can be more force exerted on the javelin. Balance purpose After preparation ( turning the body and the drawing back of the throwing arm ) the thrower must maintain a balanced equilibrium while running in a sideways stride. Coordinations purpose Good coordination allows the thrower to execute the run-up followed by the crossover followed by the throw and then the reverse. Speed purpose The faster the run up and the quicker the arm can be pulled forwards then the further the javelin can be
